Preparation
Make sure surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust and grease.
Stained or varnished wood
- Sand the surface to remove the existing stain or varnish, using a 120 grit sandpaper working in a circular motion.
- Use white spirit and a cloth to wipe down the excess dust and clean the surface.
Bare wood
- Give new wood a light sand with a 120 grit sandpaper to smooth the surface and remove any imperfections.
- Wipe down the dust with white spirit and a cloth.
Application
We recommend performing a test on the area to be varnished to ensure compatibility, always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the packaging.
- Stir well to ensure there are no lumps or bumps and you have an even consistency.
- Apply using a brush in the direction of the wood grain.
- Allow the first coat to dry for 6 hours and apply a further 2 coats.
- Before applying the final coat, lightly sand the surface to ensure a smooth, professional quality finish.
Aftercare & Storage
Cleaning
Wipe down any build up of grime and dirt to keep your doors and windows looking as good as new.
Repair
Sand down any damaged areas and replace the varnish as you originally painted the surface.
